Who PHP Is For
PHP is likely a fit if you:

- Have 30 days of continuous sobriety and need more than weekly therapy
- Are stable medically but not yet stable in daily life
- Need housing as part of your treatment
- Tried outpatient and needs more support
PHP is not the right level of care if you need medical detox or 24-hour supervision. Call us anyway — we’ll refer you to a partner who can help, and you can come to us afterward.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is R3's PHP program?
R3’s PHP program typically lasts approximately 30 days. However, the length of stay is based on each client’s individual clinical needs and is regularly reviewed with their therapist. Most clients transition from PHP into our IOP program as the next step in their recovery.
Is housing required while attending PHP?
No. Housing is not required to participate in PHP. Clients can choose to stay at R3’s sober living, another sober living home, or their own appropriate housing while attending treatment at R3RS.
Can I work while in PHP?
Yes, Many people choose to work part-time jobs while in PHP and tend to scale up their jobs hours as their treatment hours reduce as the progress through the program .
What's the difference between PHP and IOP?
PHP is a more intensive level of care designed to provide greater structure and support during the early stages of recovery. At R3RS, PHP includes five group sessions and two individual sessions each week, along with daily lunch. Clients then typically step down to IOP, which begins with five groups and one individual session per week and gradually tapers to three groups.
PHP also provides an opportunity to build a close-knit community with others who are going through similar experiences. As clients transition into IOP and begin returning to work and other responsibilities, the relationships and support systems they developed during PHP can continue to be an important part of their recovery.
Do I need to be sober to start PHP?
Yes. Clients must complete an inpatient treatment stay or have a period of continuous sobriety before entering R3RS PHP. If you’re not at that point yet, that’s okay. Give us a call, and we can help connect you with appropriate detox or inpatient treatment so you can take the first step toward recovery safely.
