R3RS Treatment Modalities

At R3RS, our therapists are trained in a variety of treatment modalities and are eclectic in their approach, making sure to adjust their therapy and treatment style to meet each individual client's needs. Your R3RS therapist will create an intentional and individualized plan for you based on your unique needs. R3RS therapists use a trauma informed approach while utilizing research based treatment modalities, some of which include CBT, MI, DBT, and ACT.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a psychological treatment that examines the way our behavior is connected with our cognitions. CBT is the gold standard of drug and alcohol treatment and has been proven to be effective in breaking the cycle of addiction.

When working with a client with a substance use disorder, a CBT therapist would look for ways in which thoughts and beliefs influence addictive related behavior. There are many different approaches to CBT that our therapists at R3RS use so that each client is getting their unique treatment needs met.

MI

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a treatment method that is used in early stages of treatment to assist clients in resolving ambivalence about recovery and change.

At R3RS we use motivational interviewing to empower our clients to understand their full potential while strengthening their motivation and commitment to change. Throughout the MI process, clients will gain clarity in their values and gain motivation to live a value driven lifestyle.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of treatment that was originally intended to treat individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), however it has been adapted to treat other mental health conditions beyond BPD including Substance Use Disorders.

DBT allows clients to gain a variety of behavioral skills including emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. At R3RS, our trained clinicians use DBT in both group and individual sessions as a tool to assist our clients in meeting their treatment goals.

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence based treatment modality that views addiction as a chronic pattern of learned behavior. Our therapists work to assist clients in modifying their learned patterns of behavior, including addiction related behaviors.

ACT treatment works to assist individuals diagnosed with a substance use disorder to gain insight into their behaviors and accept the associated urges and symptoms without acting on them. Our clinicians work to assist clients in finding techniques to reduce their urges and symptoms through an analysis of their goals and values.
