Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities

Treatment Modalities at R3RS

At R3 Recovery Services, we believe no two recovery journeys are the same. That's why our clinicians create individualized treatment plans using evidence-based therapies tailored to each member's unique needs, goals, and experiences.
Our trauma-informed approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). By combining proven therapeutic techniques with compassionate, personalized care, we help members develop the skills needed for lasting recovery.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely used, evidence-based approaches for treating substance use disorders. It helps individuals understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected, identify the thought patterns that contribute to substance use, and develop healthier ways to respond. At R3, we use CBT to help members recognize triggers, challenge unhelpful beliefs, strengthen coping skills, and build lasting habits that support long-term recovery.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Change can feel overwhelming, and it’s normal to have mixed feelings about recovery. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals explore those feelings in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment while building confidence to move forward.

At R3, our clinicians use MI to help members identify their personal values, strengthen their motivation for change, and make decisions that support lasting recovery. Rather than telling someone what to do, we help them discover their own reasons for creating a healthier future.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) helps individuals develop practical skills for managing intense emotions, coping with stress, improving relationships, and staying present in difficult moments.

At R3, DBT is used in both individual and group therapy to help members build emotional resilience, navigate challenges without turning to substances, and develop healthier ways to respond to life’s ups and downs.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps individuals develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts, emotions, and cravings. Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable feelings, ACT teaches members how to acknowledge them without allowing them to control their actions.

At R3, our clinicians use ACT to help members stay grounded in their values, build psychological flexibility, and make choices that support long-term recovery—even when recovery feels challenging.

Insurance and Cost

R3 is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Highmark, Anthem, Independence Blue Cross, Capital Blue Cross, United Health Care, Optum, and we are OON with Aetna, Cigna, and Geisinger. Most clients pay a copay or coinsurance rather than the full cost of treatment.

Not sure if you’re covered? Call (717) 583-8851 and we’ll verify your benefits for free — usually the same day — and tell you what you’d actually pay before you commit to anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most effective therapy for addiction?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has one of the strongest and broadest evidence bases for treating substance use disorders, which is why it is a key part of R3’s clinical approach. However, there is no single therapy that works best for everyone. Treatment is tailored to each individual, and R3 clients may receive elements of CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) based on their unique needs and goals.

Does R3 treat co-occurring mental health conditions?

Yes. R3 provides treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions. Our clinical team works with each client to address both their mental health and recovery needs as part of an integrated treatment approach.

Does R3 offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

R3 does not provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) on-site. However, we coordinate with trusted medical and community partners to help clients access MAT when it is clinically appropriate and part of their treatment plan.

Recovery Is More Than Sobriety
